Health, Nutrition and WASH
SYHLA’s Health, Nutrition, and WASH program is designed to improve the well-being of vulnerable women, children, and youth. The initiative combines essential healthcare services, nutrition education, and financial support with a focus on providing access to clean water and sanitation. By integrating these key areas, SYHLA works to reduce diseases, fight malnutrition, and create a healthier environment for the communities it serves.
Education and Sponsorship
SYHLA’s Education and Sponsorship program provides educational access and support for disadvantaged children and youth. The program covers school sponsorship, tuition, and materials while also offering mentorship to help students break the cycle of poverty and build a better future.
Emergency and Humanitarian Reponses
SYHLA’s Emergency and Humanitarian Response program delivers life-saving aid to internally displaced people and refugees in conflict-affected areas of Ethiopia. The initiative provides essential services such as food and nutrition support, multi-purpose cash, WASH, dignity kits, emergency health, and asset transfers.
Agriculture, Livelihood and Food Security
This program focuses on long-term resilience by teaching sustainable agricultural practices to women and youth. It improves their livelihoods and food security through the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), which receive support in the form of seeds, training, and access to agricultural technology
Eco-tourism, Climate change and Environment
The organization works to build climate resilience and promote local eco-tourism initiatives that benefit the community while preserving natural and historical sites. This includes projects dedicated to empowering young people to create resilient spaces and address environmental challenges.
Good Governance and Peace Building
Promotes peaceful coexistence by engaging in peace-building initiatives and providing psycho-social support to communities affected by conflict. It also empowers local governance by building the capacity of community members, including women and youth, to participate in decision-making processes and lead efforts toward long-term stability and resilience.
Youth and Women Empowerment
Focuses on the holistic development of young people and women to help them become agents of change. In addition to providing leadership skills, civic engagement opportunities, and media literacy, the program addresses Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and violence against women and girls (VAWG). It incorporates protection and prevention measures, ensuring a safe environment for women and girls while providing support and resources for those affected by violence.
Gender Equality, Protection and Migration Management
Our Gender Equality, Protection, and Migration Management program works to ensure that women, girls, migrants, persons with disabilities, older people, and displaced persons live in safety, dignity, and equality. We prevent and respond to gender-based violence, including trafficking, exploitation, and harmful practices, while providing survivor-centered protection and access to essential services. The program strengthens legal protection, promotes safe and orderly migration, and empowers individuals and communities to uphold the rights and well-being of the most vulnerable throughout every stage of displacement and migration.
